Like after many of my Creative Genius interviews, I ended my call with Amanda Formaro feeling motivated, inspired, and excited; it was a well-timed introduction as I’ve been working feverishly to entertain children on summer vacation. Finding new projects to occupy our days isn’t always easy, and Amanda’s a pro at that stuff.
Amanda’s blogs Crafts by Amanda and Amanda’s Cookin’ give both kids and adults amazing ideas to inspire creative crafting, eating, living, and playing. Check her sites out for yourself, I think you’ll find yourself some great inspiration.
In an industry marked by its ever-changing technologies, social media, and methods for success, one big aspect of Amanda’s businesses that’s really inspiring to me was that she has been blogging since 1997! 18 years! That officially makes her the most dedicated and experienced blogger I know, and she has a depth of understanding of creative strategies, and media, and the business side of things that a lot of people in the industry will never be able to match. It was really interesting to hear her thoughts on all of that, and as a blogger myself, I also know that finding the inspiration and the motivation to stay committed to a personal brand takes serious strength. Amanda really loves what she does, and her ambition makes her a true creative genius.
The blog Crafts by Amanda demonstrates her flair for creating crafts using upcycled and recycled items, and she has inspired millions across the globe to follow in her path.
Home decor and kitchen and garden crafts are popular sections of her Crafts website. The above button tree is one of her most popular projects. More of her fan-favorite projects include her burlap and doily luminaries, and her distressed paint home decor sign that reads “EAT”.
The farm animal bowls shown at the top of this post are whimsical and adorable, and her creative garden labels made using plastic spoons are the perfect, affordable project for any gardening enthusiast.
One of Amanda’s most recent professional adventures brought her down the path of publishing books filled themed craft tutorials. In 2014, her publisher released the first two books in a “Mania” series: Duct Tape Mania, and Rubber Band Mania. You’ll be seeing more and more of Amanda, as three new “Mania” books are due to release this summer: Button Mania, Paper Fun Mania, and Star Wars Mania.
Thank you again to Amanda for being an inspiration to crafters, and to bloggers alike!
