There is nothing better than a day at the beach. The sun, the sand, the sea, the breeze…but best of all, the perfectly tousled beach hair. In my hair fantasies, my hair looks like that upon waking in the morning. If only, right?
It may not be quite as magical as that, but I’ve managed to come up with a way to get that perfectly wavy beach hair, even on the days when a trip to the beach isn’t going to happen. Of course, you can buy “beach hair” products, but OUCH – they’re not cheap! It’s so simple to DIY your own sea salt spray (as well as add a touch of a signature scent), why not skip the sticker shock?
To make your own, you’ll need the following:
3/4 cup warm water
1/2 teaspoon pink/sea salt
1 tablespoon epsom salts (add more for extra hold)
1/2 teaspoon jojoba oil
20 drops jasmine essential oil
10 drops ylang ylang essential oil
A small empty spray bottle
In a large measuring cup, mix the water and salts.
Add the jojoba oil. (This adds softness and prevents the salt from drying out your hair.)
Add the essential oils – I love the scent of jasmine and ylang ylang together for a sexy, summery scent.
Mix well and pour into your small spray bottle. Shake well each time before applying to hair.
To create beachy waves, spray on damp hair and scrunch. Allow to dry naturally.
Done! The perfect beach hair, minus the sunburn and sand in your swimsuit.
