Closet Boot Camp: Reach-In Realness

The most common American closet is also known as the “reach-in.” Sometimes they come with sliding doors, sometimes just a curtain, but the truth is when a closet looks as good as this one does, you can let it all hang out. If you’ve got it (and it’s this organized), go ahead and flaunt it!

I’ve already filled you in on my perfected pantry and my laundry room lessons, so now it’s time to get serious about bedroom closets. As I’ve mentioned before, defining your own personal needs makes custom closet organization much more effective.

If you’re someone who gets home from work and changes right away, you might suffer from ‘Melted People’ syndrome. That’s when you leave piles of clothes all over your floor and it looks like someone has been teleported out of ‘em. If this sounds familiar, you could add a hamper right into the closet — too close to ignore. Something like this:

If you have a family hamper and no problem using it, but instead find yourself tripping over sporting gear, then you can use the same solution for a different purpose.

Your closet, your rules – it’s just important to set yourself up for success with systems that match your lifestyle. Take a look at my major closet overhaul. It’s time to train your brain to keep things in order!

Let me know which items might make sense for your lifestyle and your reach-in closet. Remember, when you can’t see clothes, you often don’t wear them. So take the time to whip that wardrobe into shape, friends!
